Athletes Charitable Members Make an Impact This Summer

Athletes Charitable members Reggie Bullock, Wendell Carter Jr., Stefon Diggs, DJ Reader, and AJ Terrell are wrapping up a busy summer of philanthropic work hosting youth camps to benefit their communities. These summer camps profoundly impact young individuals and provide invaluable opportunities for children to learn from and interact with these successful athletes who serve as role models. They enable young athletes to enhance their skills and knowledge in a particular sport and foster personal growth and development in areas such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.

Reggie Bullock, forward for the San Antonio Spurs, hosted two youth basketball camps this summer. His first camp was hosted at Independence High School in Belize and aimed to encourage wellness and positivity for over 100 Belize youth. His second camp, an inclusive youth basketball camp, was held in Atlanta, Georgia with the goal of promoting inclusivity within the sports world, anti-bullying efforts, and helping youth interact in positive ways with their peers.

Wendell Carter Jr, power forward for the Orlando Magic, and AJ Terrell Jr, cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons, hosted their youth camps in the Atlanta area, serving youth from around the city and providing hands-on instruction by each athlete.

Stefon Diggs, wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills, hosted his second annual Diggs Day Youth Football Camp in College Park, Maryland. This camp offered a comprehensive experience for athletes of all skill levels and included hands-on instruction and a photo op with Stefon. DJ Reader, defensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals, hosted his sixth annual youth football camp at Grimsley High School in his hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina. This free camp was offered to boys and girls ages 6-15, and included head coaching from DJ himself.

The generosity of Bullock, Carter Jr., Diggs, and Reader in hosting these camps promotes inclusivity by ensuring that children from all backgrounds can participate and benefit from these transformative experiences. Overall, the impact of athletes hosting free summer camps for youth extends far beyond the realm of sports, inspiring and empowering the next generation of leaders and champions. These camps have been an incredible experience, igniting passion, fostering growth, and nurturing the potential of our young generation of athletes. We celebrate the dedication of our members and the role these camps play in shaping bright futures and building a stronger, united community!

Wisdom from an industry expert and the leader of Athletes Charitable

Young people often look to adults in their lives for support, guidance, and inspiration. They are drawn to those who can provide a blueprint for what they want to achieve, in short, a role model. Almost every professional athlete can recall a coach, teacher or mentor who greatly contributed to their personal growth and/or athletic development. Many would even go as far as saying they would not be who or where they are today without them. These athletes now have the opportunity to offer the same value to the next generation via the Fiscally Sponsored Program (FSP). This charitable vehicle will allow them to establish their own foundation, fundraise, and carry out engagement activities with the backend support of Athletes Charitable. We handle all matters of compliance so that the athletes and their program managers can focus on hosting youth camps, seminars, mentorship programs etc. with the goal of empowering young people with the knowledge and tools to succeed in any path they may choose. This is yet another example of how professional athletes can use their influence to create impact that has the power to transform lives.”
