Giving legends podcast Launch

Athletes Charitable VP of Development Hannibal Navies and Athlete Ambassador Charlie Batch recently celebrated the launch of their new podcast, Giving Legends sponsored by Athletes Charitable and United Charitable. Hannibal and Charlie have over 40 years of collective leadership experience in nonprofit management, development, and athlete transition. They are excited to provide a platform that has the power to steward the next generation of Giving Legends.
The Giving Legends Podcast hosts athletes and people of influence who are equally committed to building a giving legacy as they are to pursuing excellence in their respective careers. The goal is to highlight those who are leveraging their platforms to create community impact because their efforts to drive positive change are so seldom the focus of media attention. By sharing these stories, Hannibal and Charlie hope to inspire listeners to give back in whatever way they are called to and empower them with valuable insight into what it takes to be a Giving Legend.
They were joined by Athletes Charitable members, friends and family, colleagues, and peers at the Thompson Hotel Tesserae Rooftop Bar for the official Giving Legends Podcast Launch Event on Thursday, October 19th . Attendees enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and an evening of fellowship. The Athletes Charitable team would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who was present to commemorate the special moment.
The first Giving Legends Podcast episode featuring Jerome Bettis is out now. While his accomplishments on the field have cemented him as an NFL Legend, his giving legacy only continues to grow with the impact he is creating through The Bus Stops Here Foundation. Watch/listen on YouTube, Spotify, Apple and Google Podcasts to hear more about his personal and philanthropic journey.
Tune in every other Thursday to hear impactful conversations around the topic of giving back with an exciting lineup of athletes and people of influence!

Current Events

Lawrence High School Event
Athletes Charitable and United Charitable recently arranged for former NFL Player and keynote speaker, Rennie Curran, to speak at United Charitable CEO Julia Healey’s alma mater, Lawrence Middle School/High School (Lawrence Township, New Jersey). Rennie engaged three different groups of students with a presentation on topics ranging from preparation and leadership to character and overcoming adversity. Each student also left with a copy of his book, “Free Agent”, sponsored by Athletes and United Charitable. It was our shared pleasure to provide these students with a roadmap, or as Julia put it, “what it takes to win and succeed in life.”

Emerging Philanthropy Conference
Athletes Charitable brand ambassador, Charlie Batch, recently served as the keynote speaker at the annual Emerging Philanthropy Conference, hosted by the Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council and the AFP Western PA Chapter. It is the region’s premier conference for fundraisers and Charlie was able to highlight the efforts and mission of his Best of the Batch Foundation and their impact over the last 23 years. Keep up the great work, Charlie!

JR Redmond Health Summit
Earlier this month, Athletes Charitable member J.R. Redmond hosted a free Youth Athlete Nutrition Seminar in Carson, California for a local youth football team. Guest speaker Destini Moody, the current head of performance nutrition for the NBA G League Ignite, along with J.R., created dialogue around the importance of proper nutrition and provided tips for optimal performance on the field. Participants also received a certificate of completion, autographs, and a photo opportunity. We are proud of the work of J.R. and his Silverback Foundation!

Hannibal’s Huddle
Wisdom from an industry expert and the leader of Athletes Charitable
“Giving back is worthwhile in any capacity – whether that means you have an interest in starting your own foundation, hosting a camp, supporting a cause/multiple causes via a donation from your donor advised fund, providing a scholarship opportunity, participating in back-to-school and holiday givebacks, or simply volunteering your time. There are multiple ways to give back, and each of them is impactful in their own right. Every contribution makes a difference in the lives of others in the communities that we serve. Therefore, it is more important that we are committed to building a giving legacy than how we choose to do so.”
