Giving Tuesday  & Member Thanksgiving Highlights

Giving Tuesday is a global movement that encourages people to give back to their communities and support charitable causes. It takes place on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving and provides an opportunity for individuals, businesses, and organizations to connect and share their resources to create positive change. Giving Tuesday encourages individuals to harness the power of generosity and kindness to support social causes and make a difference in the world. Whether it’s donating money, volunteering time, or spreading awareness about a particular issue, Giving Tuesday highlights the importance of giving back and inspires people to take action in their own communities.

That is exactly what the incredible roster of professional athletes and social entrepreneurs are doing through their membership with Athletes Charitable. By contributing their time, resources, and talents, our giving legends are actively participating in building a better world for all through their fiscally sponsored programs. Our members support causes in the fields of education, community development, mental health and wellness, arts, and healthcare and their efforts cover twenty-two states and four countries.

In fact, just this month two of our members hosted Thanksgiving initiatives to give back to their communities. DJ Reader, defensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals, hosted a turkey drive for the families of Shroder High School and John P. Parker School in Cincinnati. They provided turkeys, Famous Lucious Q Seasoning Rub, and $50 gift cards to over 100 families in need. Wendell Carter Jr, center for the Orlando Magic, in partnership with his team, helped to distribute more than 1,000 Thanksgiving meals to underserved families in central Florida.

Wisdom from an industry expert and the leader of Athletes Charitable

“A Giving Legend is someone who is passionate about their giving. That passion most often comes from lived experience. The most successful social entrepreneurs start with a cause that has personally affected them, their family or community members. For athletes and people of influence, the focus should be leveraging their platforms to amplify their impact in the areas that matter most to them. When they are consistent in their efforts, they have the power to create lasting change and truly transform communities.”
