Holiday Generosity From Our Giving Legends

The holiday season embodies the spirit of giving and selflessness, and there’s no better time to emphasize the importance of generosity and giving back to the community. Athletes Charitable has showcased the profound impact individuals can have when they channel their success and resources toward aiding those in need. Our members’  commitment to philanthropy embodies the true essence of the holidays and is a powerful example of leveraging your platform to bring about positive change.

This month, members AJ Brown, Champ Bailey, Charlie Batch, and Wendell Carter Jr., hosted holiday initiatives to give back to their communities. AJ Brown, through his AJ Brown Foundation and in partnership with Heights Philadelphia, hosted his inaugural “Tackling the Holidays with AJ Brown” event.  AJ treated 6 high-achieving students to a shopping trip at Target for the holidays.

Champ Bailey, through his Champ Bailey Family Foundation,  hosted a “Toys for Joy” Christmas party and toy giveaway event in Folkston, Georgia. Over 100 families were in attendance and received toys for the holidays.

Charlie Batch, through his Best of the Batch Foundation, hosted his Batch-a-Toys initiative and collected over 5000 toys this season to distribute at the Women’s Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh, at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, and to financially challenged families in Allegheny County.

Wendell Carter Jr., through his A Platform2 Foundation and in partnership with the Boys to Men organization, hosted his second annual Holiday Party. 95 youth were provided a meal and gift bag.

We take immense pride in the incredible acts of kindness and philanthropy exhibited by our members, as their unwavering dedication to making a difference embodies the Athletes Charitable mission to make a positive impact on the world by empowering athletes through social entrepreneurship. Three of our Giving Legends, AJ Brown, AJ Terrell, and DJ Reader participated in the My Cause My Cleats initiative, which allows NFL players to reveal their passions beyond the game and wear their hearts on their feet. Through My Cause My Cleats, players have the opportunity to pick a cause that is important to them and represent their chosen organization on custom-designed cleats.

Professional baseball players, Zack and Jake Gelof, of the Gelof Brothers Foundation hosted their first youth sports camp at Cape Henlopen High School in Delaware serving over 80 student-athletes from ages 8-13 in a day full of sports games, skills instruction, mindset coaching, and competition. The participating student-athletes received a custom t-shirt, and signed gear from the Gelof brothers.

Athletes Charitable brand Ambassador, Charlie Batch, hosted the 14th annual “In the Pocket” boot camp last month –  a pool, ping pong, and poker competition that pits Steelers against celebrities to raise money for his Best of the Batch Foundation STEAM and after school programs in Pittsburgh, PA. Charlie continues to be a giving legend as they have expanded their educational facility from 5,300 square feet to 33,000 through fundraising efforts like this event.

Wisdom from an industry expert and the leader of Athletes Charitable

The holidays represent a season of giving. Although Athletes Charitable members give all year long, the spirit of giving all around the world is especially strong this time of year. People are driven to unite around principles of joy, appreciation, and lending a helping hand to those in need. This presents the perfect opportunity to garner support for charitable giving initiatives that truly make a difference in the lives of others. With the support of Athletes Charitable, our members have hosted toy drives, food giveaways, holiday parties, and shopping experiences through their fiscally sponsored programs. While they focus on making a positive impact in the communities where they live and play, our team handles the event insurance registration, and waivers on the backend to ensure a seamless process. Through their donor-advised funds, Athletes Charitable members also can identify and easily contribute to other organizations that champion the causes that mean the most to them. Our goal is to take the stress out of holiday giving to focus on the good.”
